Deconvolution of main hydration kinetic peaks in properly sulfated Portland cements with boundary nucleation and growth models and relation to early-age concrete strength development

When the hydration kinetics of properly sulfated Portland cements is monitored by heat flow calorimetry, initial dissolution peak and dormant period followed main – formation calcium-silicate-hydrates portlandite, so-called silicate peak. This superimposed a associated to further tricalcium aluminate surge in precipitation sulfoaluminates (the sulfate depletion peak) right after added for setting control depleted material system.
